• Calling Sponsors to enter a foursome, sponsor a tee box flag or give a gift/gift certificate that can be given as a door prize.
  • What this involves:
    • Call golfers who have participated in the golf tournament in past years.
    • Call sponsors who have paid for foursomes, sponsored flags or given gifts/gift certificates as door prizes.
    • Explain the purpose of the WUMC Charity Golf Classic.
      • Supports three outstanding charity efforts: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Waterbury, the Educational Project in Ghana and the WUMC Scholarship Fund.
    • Ask for participation and support from the organization.
      • We need you to sponsor a foursome, sponsor a tee box flag or give a gift/gift certificate that can be used as a door prize.
    • Follow up as a reminder to get people/organizations to participate. 
      • This may require a face to face visit or multiple phone calls.
    • This is a team effort! Someone else on the golf committee may be helpful with “getting the order”, if you will only mention it to friends.
• Working at Crestbrook Park Golf Course the day of the tournament, October 3rd, 2008.
  • What this involves:
    • Registering golfers for the tournament.
    • Giving a “gift bag” to each golfer when he or she registers.
    • Assist with the Silent Auction.
    • Setting up the sponsor’s flags at each tee box on the course.
    • Being an “observer” at the “hole in one” contest golf holes.
• Contributing items such as advertising pens, note pads, mini tubes of sun screen or hand lotion, candy, golf balls or ball markers, etc. to be placed in the “Golfers Gift Bags”.
• Create a “theme basket” for the Silent Auction.
  • What this involves:
    • Fill a basket with items representing your theme.
      • Exotic foods.
      • Wine, cheese and crackers.
      • Kid gifts.
      • Spa items.
• Stuffing the “Golfers Gift Bags” just prior to the Tournament.
