WUMC's Faith & Fiction Book Club will resume on January 25 at 8:30 AM.
Our January read will be The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. This story follows Ana, daughter of a wealthy ruler in Galilee. She has considerable talent as a thinker and a writer, but no place to express it as a woman of her time. She meets Jesus. They are drawn to each other, both spiritually, and intellectually. They marry. Grounded in meticulous historical research and written with a reverential approach to Jesus‘s life that focuses on his humanity, The Book of Longings is an inspiring account of one woman’s bold struggle to realize the passion and potential inside her while living in a time, place, and culture that devises to silence her.
