Woodbury United Methodist Church will launch a new one-room Sunday School program for children ages 3–10 on Sunday, September 13. Held weekly from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., the program will use the Big Faith curriculum to help children learn about God and grow in faith through Bible stories, songs, activities, prayer, and fellowship. The children will join their parents or family members for the early part of worship, experience a children's message, and then go with the Sunday School teachers for the Big Faith program.
The curriculum is specifically designed to meet the individual needs of children ages 3–10 in the one-room setting. It will be coordinated by the Christian Education Team chaired by retired educator, Bob Asman, who expresses, “Through Bible stories, songs, activities, prayer, and fellowship, we want every child to know that they are loved by God”.
Pastor Bill Florin said the new Sunday School will offer children an opportunity to deepen their faith while building relationships with others. “Sunday School is a special time for children to learn about God, grow in their faith, make new friends, and discover the joy of following Jesus.”
Woodbury UMC has also emphasized safety as the program prepares to welcome children this fall. All volunteers have completed background checks and “Safer Sanctuaries” training. “We want to share the love of Jesus with all people of all ages,” Florin said. “We are committed to maintaining an environment where all are safe so they can grow, flourish, and belong.”
The program begins Sunday, September 13, and will meet each week from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Woodbury United Methodist Church. Families interested in learning more may contact the church office at 203-263-4775.
