Dear Co-Laborers in Christ,
If Woodbury United Methodist Church cannot witness to the Easter promise, I’m not sure
what congregation can!
What a joy to see us thriving! What a joy to see our robust program! What a joy to serve!
Surely this is the message of Easter! The revival of this congregation is the Easter
message! God’s love overcomes the worst that life can dish out. It is an expression of new life
and possibilities that we could not have envisioned. Claimed by those first witnesses and now
claimed by us, love is mediated through human hearts and hands to share the life-transforming
power of Christ’s resurrection.
This church has long lived by the credo “Love Spoken Here.”  While the love we speak of is
at times sentimental and familial, it is ultimately this Godly love that puts service above self and
does not shrink from living boldly. Infused by God’s power to redeem and revive, we have
become channels of that amazing grace. I have done my part. So have you. Together, we have
aligned ourselves with God’s vision for this community: of openness, of caring, of service.
Holy Week services draw us in to the powerful story of Christ’s journey to the cross and
the empty tomb. They are detailed on the calendar. Please come! I know mid-week services can
be a challenge with work and families. Yet your attendance in all of Holy Week, through Maundy
Thursday and Good Friday, will make Easter all the more joyful!
God’s unrequited love, unfailing mercy and unstoppable victory over death again invites us
to proclaim: “The Lord is Risen! He is Risen, indeed!
Your servant in Christ,
Rev. Dr. Brian R. Bodt, Pastor
