FEBRUARY 1 EPIPHANY IV

We will celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper in a briefer worship designed to integrate with our Annual Meeting (see below). The sermon “Sanctuary” will focus on where and how we encounter God, based on Psalm 15, Micah 6:1-8 and Matthew 5:1-12. We will receive Woodbury Food Bank donations and an opportunity to give to the pastor’s discretionary fund will be offered. Our liturgist and communion assistant will be Sarah Schivera. Our Black History Month presenter will be Connor Langdon.

Immediately after worship we move to Fellowship Hall for a light luncheon and Annual Meeting, celebrating the ministries of 2025 and looking ahead with confidence to 2026. The event will end promptly at 1 p.m., so we ask our people to make this commitment to a time of inspiration, information and integration of worship with our wider ministry.

FEBRUARY 8 EPIPHANY V

“Do a Good Turn Daily” is a message based on the Boy Scout motto, Isaiah 58:1-12 and Matthew 5:13-20. We will receive new members. Our liturgist will be Keri Lavish. Our Black History Month presenter will be Sam Temple. After worship, free blood pressure screenings will be offered in the Assembly Room by Andrew Styblo, Paramedic.

FEBRUARY 15 THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD

Exodus 24:12-18 and Matthew 17:1-9 is the basis of the message “Intense Tent.” Skyler D’Andrea will be our liturgist. 

FEBRUARY 18 ASH WEDNESDAY

A simple service at 7:30 a.m. will be 30 minutes long for folks who wish to attend before work and for those who do not wish to attend an evening service. Our 7 p.m. service will include music by the Bell and Chancel Choirs. Both services will include the optional imposition of ashes. Scriptures are Psalm 51:1-17 and Joel 2:1-2 and 13-17 with the message “Strike the Right Chord.” Our liturgist will be Carolyn Shay.

FEBRUARY 22 LENT I

The sermon “Obedience” will be based on Psalm 32: Genesis 2:15-17 and 3:1-7; and Matthew 4:1-11. Our liturgist will be Dane Guinipero. Our Black History Month presenter will be Meg Temple.

FEBRUARY 24 (Tuesday) LENT ON THE ROAD

6 p.m. Soup Supper, 7 p.m. worship at South Britain Congregational Church, 693 South Britain Road, Southbury
